The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe Helps Haiti

My brother, Eric has been doing some cupcake work for me in Utah. He called me the other day to tell me about the newest cupcake shop to open near his school, The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe.




The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe is located in Provo, Utah, near two large college campuses (BYU and UVU) and close to many of the student apartments. One of the first things my brother commented on was that The Cocoa Bean "has a very relaxing, casual atmosphere about it." The Cocoa Bean stays open later (11:00pm) and has wi-fi, a great atmosphere for students.




This is not the first Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe. The Cocoa Bean's roots are in Rexburg, Idaho, close to another large college campus. My brother met with Gary Rasmussen, one of the two owners of The Cocoa Bean.




Eric got to try one of the cupcakes -- Better than Whatever. Although he didn't specify exactly what the flavor was, he did say that "it had everything you could want in a cupcake. Some are just fluff and don't taste like much. This cupcake was packed with goodness." My brother knows good cupcakes, so I'm anxious to try one myself. The Cocoa Bean has 25 flavors, which vary from day to day.




Besides the obvious cupcakes, The Cocoa Bean also sells a variety of non-caffeinated drinks, including frappes, Italian sodas, "streamies," the Cocoa Bean signature drink, and frozen lemonade. Eric tried Love Potion, a chilled mixture of chocolate and strawberry. He loved it, but it would be hard not to love chocolate and strawberry mixed together in liquid form.




In the past few weeks many restaurants have been raising money to help the victims of the Haiti earthquakes. The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe is no exception. They are combining their grand opening celebration with a fundraiser for All His Children Charity. On Saturday, February 6 The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe will donate all proceeds from the day to purchase medical supplies that will be shipped to Haiti later in the month.

I love seeing cupcakes being used for a good cause. Support the newest cupcake shop in Utah and help the victims of Haiti. Don't forget...this Saturday, February 6th.
