Running a Marathon Deserves Cupcakes...lots of them

Four months ago two friends convinced me to sign up for a marathon. Although I had no desire to run one nor did I think it was possible, I signed up anyway. After months of training and long runs we finally did it! Carrie, Kelly, and I are officially marathoners!

Of course, after it was all over, I was craving a cheeseburger and cupcakes. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on both. The cupcakes were from Cupcakery in Thousand Oaks and were brought by one of our running buddies.

Although I had six flavors to choose from, I was only able to sample one, since we had a large group to share with.

(Pictured: Pink Velvet, Dulce de Leche, Very Vanilla, Tuxedo, SO Not Vanilla, Classic Birthday Cake)

Carrie enjoyed a strawberry shake with her Pink Velvet. The 24 hours following a race is a free-for-all with the amount of sugar we are allowed to eat :)

So what did I choose? I went with the most unusual flavor of the bunch: Dulce de Leche. This cupcake was a vanilla bean cupcake with caramel buttercream frosting. Although I'm sure almost anything with sugar would have tasted good, I was very satisfied with the taste of this cupcake. The frosting was sweet, the proportions were great, and the cake was moist.

Cupcakery's cupcakes are fabulous and I'm sure I would stop by if I lived closer. Cupcakery is open Tuesday-Saturday. They have other flavors available on different days of the week, such as Neopolitan, Smores, and Strawberry Shortcake. Their cucpakes are $3.25 each. Thank you, Cupcakery, for completing my marathon day experience.

~FYI: We ran the Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA. Several people have asked about our running skirts. I will have more info within the next few days on where you can buy your own sparkle running skirt.~
