I didn't realize that Babycakes NYC was a vegan bakery. After I found this out, I was anxious to review my first vegan cupcakes.
Well, this review didn't go as planned. My husband had to transport the cupcakes from New York City to Orange County. Usually this works out ok, but these cupcakes were supposed to be refrigerated. He stuck the cupcakes in the fridge when he got home, but the damage was already done.
The cupcakes melted. Well, actually the frosting melted.
There's no way I can do a review for cupcakes that are not in their natural state.
Summary: What do I know about Babycakes NYC cupcakes? I learned that they are refined sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, casein-free, egg-free, vegan, kosher. To tell you the truth, this scares me a little. It's hard to imagine that cupcakes can be delicious without butter or sugar, but I'm ready for Babycakes NYC to prove me wrong.
I love their packaging: it's cute, you can see inside, and the cupcakes would probably stay in place during a normal situation (not carrying across the country).
The good news is that Babycakes NYC now has a location in Los Angeles. Looks like I'm going to need to take a trip there to try their cupcakes.

Good luck with the Babycakes Adventure... I'm interested in knowing what you think...
Babycakes NYC is one of my favorite NYC bakeries. I really like their frosting too. I was nervous about the vegan thing too but they are good.
It's kind of an apples to oranges thing but still very delicious cupcakes.
Utah has a REALLY good vegan bakery too in Bountiful and SLC, called Cakewalk Baking Company. If you come this winter it would be fun to meet up there!
Hope you get to try Babycakes NYC soon!
