The Sunday edition of the OC Register came with a special announcement from Casey's Cupcakes. Today is the first day of their Grand Opening week for their fourth location. The Woodbury Town Center in Irvine houses the new location. During this week, if you bring in the sticker that came with the OC Register, you will receive "Buy One Cupcake and Get 50% Off a Second Cupcake." The offer is valid 4/29/12 - 5/6/12. Sounds like Casey's Cupcakes must be doing well. I still haven't visited them. This location isn't to far from home, so maybe it's time I paid this a visit.

Bakerella Beehive Cupcakes
Bakerella is a genius! But we all already knew that. I love this dessert table that she just whipped up! The chocolate beehive cupcakes are just adorable. She was inspired by the book Sweet Designs.

I love the way Cookies and Cups dressed up these cupcakes with ice cream cone roundabouts, lollipop sticks, sprinkles, and candy melt wafers. All of these supplies are available through My Candy Crafts, the website where Cookies and Cups wrote this guest post.

Tutorial on Piping Frosting on Cupcakes
If you're anything like me, you LOVE to bake, but are not-so-great at decorating. Sure, the cupcakes taste great, but you want them to look beautiful too. Our Best Bites has a great tutorial on how to pipe frosting on cupcakes the easy way. Using plastic wrap, you don't even get the piping bag dirty! You can read the full tutorial here.

Cupcake Dog Collar
How CUTE is this cupcake dog collar from Up Country?! I love getting different collars for my pup, but surprisingly I don't have a cupcake collar for her. Now I know where to get one.

PB&J Stuffed Banana Donut Muffins
There are three things that I have to buy every week at the grocery store: milk, chocolate syrup, and peanut butter. In our house, we go through those items so quickly. Why? Well, I have a tall glass of chocolate milk as my recovery drink after workouts (by the way, have you seen the new "My After" chocolate milk campaign?). We also eat a lot of PB & J sandwiches. It's quick, it's easy, and it's delicious.
When I saw Cheeky Kitchen's post for Peanut Butter & Jelly Stuffed Banana Donut Muffins, I knew this was my kind of food. Peanut Butter-yes! Jelly-yes! Stuffed Banana-yes! Donuts-yes! Muffins-yes! Everything is right about these muffins. I plan on trying these out soon. You can find the recipe here.

Review: Nothing Bundt Cakes
A little over a year ago I reported on Nothing Bundt Cakes coming to Orange County. I had heard of them previously, and even seen one of their cakes at a wedding, but I hadn't given them the official taste test yet.
I know bundt cakes aren't technically cupcakes, but they are cakes with frosting, so....I am going to consider them cupcakes. One of the first Orange County locations is in Tustin at The District. I finally stopped by after eating dinner next door at Pei Wei.
There were lots of flavors and sizes available. You can buy the bundt cakes as large cakes (8" and 10"), bundtlets (cupcake size), or bundtinis (mini cupcake size). They have nine signature flavors, which include lemon, pecan praline, carrot, and red velvet. I chose White Chocolate Raspberry and Chocolate Chocolate Chip bundtlets. All bundt cakes come with the same frosting, a velvety cream cheese frosting.
The first thing I noticed after the first bite was how moist the cakes were. I mean, we are talking so moist it was almost wet. Like I mentioned before, all bundts have the same frosting. I really enjoyed their cream cheese frosting, which was smooth, creamy, and tangy. It definitely wasn't too sweet like some cream cheese frostings are.
Nothing Bundt Cakes is a great substitute for cupcakes. Moist cake and delicious frosting make them a sure-bet when you're looking for satisfy your sweet tooth. The bundtlets, which are similar in size to a cupcake, are approximately $5, which is a bit pricier than a cupcake would be. The bundtinis seem like a good deal, but they are only available by the dozen. I will definitely stop by Nothing Bundt Cakes again to try some of their other flavors.

Banana Boat Cupcakes from How Sweet It Is
Do I even need to mention how heavenly these cupcakes look?! How Sweet It Is created a recipe after a favorite childhood snack: banana boats. I've never made them before, but they sound awesome!
"A slice of bread smeared with peanut butter, a banana placed on top, the side of the bread folded up like a sandwich, and the entire thing skewered together with salty pretzel sticks."
The cupcake version sounds just as delicious: Pretzel Bottomed Banana Bread Cupcakes with Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting. I'll try anything with peanut butter. You can find the recipe here.

Easter Cupcake Ideas
Easter is this weekend! I'm so excited to celebrate the holiday with my little baby boy. I know he's not old enough to understand anything, but I'm excited to have a reason to hide Easter eggs, buy Easter candy, and make a fancy breakfast.
Last week I re-posted a recipe for Cadbudy Creme Egg cupcakes. Here's a few other fun Easter cupcakes ideas.

Yo Gabba Gabba and Cupcake Wars Contest
Having a little one means I am now in the Yo Gabba Gabba world. I love this show! If you don't know this show, then you definitely don't have kids. And I feel kinda special because I know the creators.
Anyways, today Yo Gabba Gabba announced on their Facebook page that they will be on Food Network's Cupcake Wars on April 15. In honor of that, they announced a contest to win a Yo Gabba Gabba prize pack. To enter the contest, you enter a photo of your best Yo Gabba Gabba inspired cupcake. The details are explained here. Submissions must be received by 5:00pm April 6. I've seen a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba themed cakes and cupcakes, so I know many of you have photos already. I can't wait to see the winners!
