Review: Nothing Bundt Cakes

A little over a year ago I reported on Nothing Bundt Cakes coming to Orange County. I had heard of them previously, and even seen one of their cakes at a wedding, but I hadn't given them the official taste test yet.

I know bundt cakes aren't technically cupcakes, but they are cakes with frosting, so....I am going to consider them cupcakes. One of the first Orange County locations is in Tustin at The District. I finally stopped by after eating dinner next door at Pei Wei.

There were lots of flavors and sizes available. You can buy the bundt cakes as large cakes (8" and 10"), bundtlets (cupcake size), or bundtinis (mini cupcake size). They have nine signature flavors, which include lemon, pecan praline, carrot, and red velvet. I chose White Chocolate Raspberry and Chocolate Chocolate Chip bundtlets. All bundt cakes come with the same frosting, a velvety cream cheese frosting.

The first thing I noticed after the first bite was how moist the cakes were. I mean, we are talking so moist it was almost wet. Like I mentioned before, all bundts have the same frosting. I really enjoyed their cream cheese frosting, which was smooth, creamy, and tangy. It definitely wasn't too sweet like some cream cheese frostings are.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is a great substitute for cupcakes. Moist cake and delicious frosting make them a sure-bet when you're looking for satisfy your sweet tooth. The bundtlets, which are similar in size to a cupcake, are approximately $5, which is a bit pricier than a cupcake would be. The bundtinis seem like a good deal, but they are only available by the dozen. I will definitely stop by Nothing Bundt Cakes again to try some of their other flavors.
