Wednesday morning I opened the Orange County Register newspaper and was greeted by an ad for Casey's Cupcakes. They were advertising their Super Bowl cupcakes that are available this week. I've never seen a cupcake shop take out almost a full-page ad before. Not sure the football crowd is the best group for buying cupcakes, but I could be wrong. I'm going to be making cannollis for out Super Bowl party. What are you making?

Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly
My favorite thing to do when I travel is try new cupcake shops. I go to Orlando several times a year, but I'm so busy during the day that I don't usually have time to visit any cupcake shops. Luckily, on this past trip, someone brought the cupcake TO me.
I saw Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Molly on Cupcake Wars several years ago. Of course I always love trying "famous" cupcake shops. Yes, this cupcakes were delivered to me, but unfortunately the cupcake deliverer made a few quick turns in the car and the cupcakes spilled all over the place.
Of course that doesn't matter to me because cupcakes still taste good no matter how they look, but for photo purposes, it kinda sucks.
Since there were three dozen mini cupcakes, I shared them with my co-workers. I was able to try about 10 of them and they were DELICIOUS. Smooth, creamy frosting, unique & fun flavors, moist cake...what more could a cupcake activist ask for?
I want to personally visit Sweet! so I can do an official review. I'm headed to Orlando again at the end of February and I'm hoping to slip in a quick trip to this cupcake shop.

Sticky Toffee Pudding Cupcakes from Cupcake Project
I learned something from reading Cupcake Project's post about Sticky Toffee Pudding cupcakes: sticky toffee pudding is made with DATES. I had no idea! I knew they had a unique flavor and I guess that's why.
Cupcake Project posted a recipe for Sticky Toffee Pudding cupcakes in honor of the start of Downton Abbey this month. You can find the recipe HERE.

New Sweet & Saucy Long Beach Location Open
Earlier this year I shared the news that Sweet & Saucy Shop would be moving it's Long Beach location. Well, it finally happened and they are open for business! The photos look great and I am happy to see their success.
In case you didn't know, Sweet & Saucy Shop is one of my favorite cupcake shops ever. They make the most delicious cupcakes and desserts. I always tell people they are my favorite cupcake shop in Orange County. I can't wait to visit their new shop.

S'mores Nachos
Last month I wrote about the yumminess of El Pollo Loco's Mexican S'Mores. I wanted to re-create this delicious dessert for my family for Christmas. One problem....I couldn't find chocolate tortillas.
After weeks of researching and calling multiple stores, I gave up and chose a different, but similar dessert: S'mores Nachos.
First, I started by frying up some sopapillas. These are flour tortilla chips coated with cinnamon and sugar. Then I topped the sopapillas with marshamllows, chocolate chips, and honey. I popped the plate in the microwave for 20 seconds, then they were done.
Delicious and everyone loved them! They went along perfectly with our Mexican food themed Christmas.
I know it's late, but here's our family Christmas photo. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Cookies in a Jar
One of my favorite memories of this past holiday season was when we had carolers singing at our front door. It was so sweet to have a family share their beautiful talents with us. And even better was that they gifted us with cookies in a jar.
It took me about 5 minutes before I decided that these ingredients needed to transform into edible cookies NOW. 30 minutes later I had delicious Chocolate Cranberry Chocolate Chip Cookies. Next year I'd like to spread some cookie love to others. What a wonderful idea!

Holiday Cupcakes from My Delight Cupcakery
Recently work took me to Ontario. No, not Ontario, Canada, but Ontario, CA. Not quite a destination location, but it is the home of My Delight Cupcakery. Nothing else mattered until I made a stop there. My friend and I picked up a dozen minis and ate all of them within 24 hours.
One thing I love about My Delight Cupcakery is that they experiment with flavors. They are the ones who came up with the Chicken & Waffles cupcake, along with the Breakfast Cupcake. Well for the holiday season they had two special flavors on the day we stopped by -- Eggnog and White Chocolate Peppermint Kettlekorn.
Your first thought is probably the same as mine: White Chocolate Peppermint Kettlekorn? I thought this was an odd pairing, but couldn't resist trying it. And it was worth it...quite a delicious cupcake! I wish they offered this year-round. Thank you, My Delight Cupcakery, for bringing holiday joy to my life!
My Delight Cupcakery is located in Ontario, CA and is one of my Top 3 Cupcake Shops EVER!

Eating My Way Through Vegas
It's not hard to find good food while in Las Vegas. But of course I planned accordingly and burned off all the calories before I got there. Yeah right! I would be running for 24 hours to burn all of these. It was a delicious weekend!
Frozen Hot Chocolate from Serendipity. It was like drinking melted ice cream. I could feel myself getting fatter.
Cookies from Retro Bakery. Makes me wish I had them right now!
Playing around at "work." Yes that's me on the left.
Not a dream. I actually bought six Hopscotch cupcakes from Retro Bakery. I knew I would need more than just one.
Komex Express - a little gem of a restaurant off the strip. The bulgogi nachos from this Korean Mexican fusion place were off the hook. Go there.
I came home five pounds heavier, but so much happier. I love you, Las Vegas!

Ginger "Softs" from Picky Palate
One of my favorite go-to recipe is Soft Perfect Gingersnaps from Picky Palate. My husband calls them Giner-softs because of how soft and delicious they are.
I baked them the other night to drop off to some friends for Christmas. Super easy to make and I didn't have to run to the store for any ingredients I didn't have.
Yum! I wish I had saved more for myself. You must try these out! You can find the recipe HERE.
